A phenomenological approach that treats perception as the primary opening of the embodied subjective world. Merleau-Ponty argues that perception is neither a mere collection of sensations nor a mental representation, but the holistic mode of being through which the embodied subject is directed toward the world. Perception is immediate and field-structured, and the world appears as a horizon already endowed with meaning.
