Discursive Formation/Practice

Michel Foucault EN

A field of discourse that systematically produces particular objects, subject positions, and concepts.

Açıklama

A field of discourse that systematically produces particular objects, subject positions, and concepts. Rather than referring to individual statements, a discursive formation denotes the structured domain that determines who can speak, from what position, and about which objects. Operating through institutions, forms of expertise, and normative frameworks, this domain shapes and sustains the historical constitution of the “reasonable” or “legitimate” subject.
